Iris DeMent 'Our Town'

This is how I imagined the West but it wasn't 'til I met Zach Works that some of it came into focus.

Yes. Thanks for this. At what point does a community die, or become? In Australia you drive on a straight road through 'a struggle town'. Few if any younger than 50 living there, no more shops let alone post office; perhaps a mobile advice van turning up from the council every week, doubtful bus route, no rail station. Yet there are stories of such places being renewed. A mix of an exceptional and ordinary local leadership plus public managers persuaded to refocus the attention of government. There's no policy without a story and - yes - a song.
